Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. The couple moved to Oxfordshire when she was five years old and attended an academy called the Dragon School. From the age of six Emma realized she was going to become an actor and for a number of years she studied at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught performing and singing. At the age of 10, she was performing and taking as the main character in several Stagecoach productions and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 adaptation to J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was published in 1999. Emma was discovered by agents via their Oxford teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that, after auditioning for eight times Emma and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first film on the screen came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. It also was the film that was most popular of 2001. Opening days and weekends of ticket sales were record-breaking. The critics were impressed by the movie and its performances. The Daily Telegraph, an important British paper, called Emma's performances "amazing". Emma was later awarded five prizes for her performance in the movie.
